Who can forget this October favorite? :p

Reading

Warm Bodies.  We watched the movie and really liked the different spin on what could have been just another zombie film, so I added this book to my wish list and was pleasantly surprised when I got it as a gift for my birthday. The movie follows the book fairly well, I thought, so if you enjoyed the movie, you’d probably like the book as well as it gets into more detail and really is just a nice change from your average zombie story.  I’m personally not aware of any other books written from the perspective of a zombie.

I also just started reading ‘The Sleep Lady’s Good Night Sleep Tight: Gentle Proven Solutions to Help Your Child Sleep Well and Wake up Happy.’  I don’t know what exactly changed with the little man, but we need some new techniques.

Watching

Josh and I are still watching Fringe on Amazon Prime, but also started watching ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’. It’s pretty fun, if not a tad cheesy at times.  The cast is decent and it’s a decent show to watch. My favorite is definitely ‘The Neighbors,’ though.  Seriously awesome show.  We also started checking out the first season of ‘Duck Dynasty’ since that just became available on Prime.  Yeah, we’re late in the game again, and I’m on the fence as I am with most reality type shows.

As far as movies, we just watched ‘Iron Man 3’ and it was better than I thought it would be, though like most sequels there were a few things that were just “meh” for me.  We also recently watch ‘Epic’ and while it sort of felt a little like ‘Fern Gully’ the animation was so pretty, and you should watch it for that reason alone. It was definitely one I wouldn’t mind adding to the collection as I’m sure the kids will like it will one day.

Eating

Pretty much anything and everything, though my favorite thing to do is go to Dairy Queen for a blizzard and cheese curds.  Josh and I have gotten into the very bad habit of stopping there if Enzo happens to fall asleep in the car after errands on the weekend since we know if we go home and wake him up he’ll never go back to sleep and a nap will be ruined.  So we drive around eat ice cream and delicious cheese curds and explore back roads.

Loving

Fall.  While I wouldn’t mind if it was a tad warmer and less wet out, I love watching the colors change and I’m enjoying various pumpkin flavored yummies. It’s such a cozy time of year… if only I could convince Enzo that’s a good thing. He kind of hates mittens right now and they don’t have gloves small enough for his little hands that will keep them from getting wet.  Oh the frustrations of a young boy.

Thinking About

Baby Girl, of course. I can’t help, but wish a little that we were having her at home.  It’s something I had thought about even with Enzo, but we both decided that we’re so far from a hospital we didn’t want to take the risk of something going wrong.  Now that our impending due date is drawing near, I find myself wishing we were having the baby at home, though.  I like the idea of not leaving Enzo and of being able to curl up in my own bed right away afterwards.  It’s hard for me to feel super relaxed in a hospital type setting, and this will also be the first time we’ve been away from Enzo overnight.  Even more reason to make sure we get him back on track in terms of sleeping.  The kiddo has been having a hard time lately and has been waking up in the middle of the night and wanting to crawl into our bed. He was doing so good in his toddler bed, too!  I guess we have a few weeks to get him on track… 5 if she waits until her due date.

In the meantime, we’ve also made an appointment with an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist for him because he’s had several ear infections in the past couple of months and now that we look back, we think he’s had even more than we realized based on behavior.  We don’t want to rush into tubes, but if a doctor thinks that will help him out, we’d like to have it done sooner rather than later. The poor kid has been a lot more cranky than usual and then there’s the sleeping issue, plus the fact that if his health is at all hereditary – his mama was sick a lot as a kid.  I was on antibiotics a lot and had pretty awful tonsils that eventually got removed, which was the best thing ever for my health. I stopped getting ear infections and even the amount of colds and strep throat went down as well. While I don’t want Enzo to have to get tubes or anything like that, if we at least knew that something was physical was going on, we could fix it. I miss my happy baby who used to sleep so well.

Week 34

We have Baby Girl’s dresser put together and I’ve started the task of clipping tags off clothing and getting everything ready for washing.  Soon her room will be ready and then I imagine we’ll start getting our room ready as she’ll be spending her nights in our room for at least the first 6 months, like we did with Enzo.  Granted, every kiddo is different, so she may decide she’s ready for her own room sooner than that, or perhaps it will be the opposite.  As with Enzo, we’ll have her nap in her crib at least once a day so it’s not a new concept when she starts day care.  I’m looking forward to those lazy naps in the first weeks, though, which I imagine will have her snuggled on my chest as I often did with our little man. I didn’t care if I got nothing accomplished, it was just nice to have those quiet cuddly moments. Fingers crossed this little girl will like carriers, though. Enzo didn’t care for them at all, and it would make life so much easier if our little miss is okay with them.  To each their own… if she’s like her brother, then that’s all there is to it. She may agree to ride in the sling for brief moments (like running through an airport) and that will be okay with me. 😉

 Week 34

As for health – not much has changed.  I go see a chiropractor tomorrow, and our little girl continues to be very squirmy.  Her big brother is definitely more aware of her than I thought he would be. The other night while snacking before dinner he said, “Beebee” and pointed at my belly and wanted me to lift my shirt up so he could offer his spoon to Baby and then proceeded to give belly kisses.  There is something delightfully special about this boy of mine, and despite the fierce kicks he gives when he insists on sharing our bed, I do so love those moments and love waking up and seeing him either sprawled across the mattress or snuggled closely with his Dada.  Those two sure do have a way of melting my heart… granted, it could also be pregnancy hormones. 😉

Week 33

Well, our last checkup went well. Baby Girl had flipped and was really low, so the midwife couldn’t feel her head very well – pretty much like her big brother did.  Aside from the PUPPS, my health is well and I’m trying natural remedies to ease things up.  So far the Dandelion Root hasn’t done much, so I upped my dose and we’ll see if anything happens this week.  If it doesn’t ease up I’ll probably stop taking it and look into other ideas.  Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap has made our master bathroom smell like a campfire… so that takes some getting used to. At least I don’t leave the house smelling like a bonfire. Ha ha.

 Belly Kisses

We unfortunately didn’t get any face shots at our last ultrasound, but we could see her eyes looking around and she was sucking on the toes of one of her feet.  The technician seemed surprised that I could feel her as well as I do since I have an anterior placenta… I’m just glad I do otherwise I think those kicks and jabs would be a lot more distracting then they are now. Ha ha.

 Nonap

And as you may have noticed – no belly shots this week.  Everyone was kind of cranky and out of sorts on Saturday and it slipped our minds on Sunday after running errands and then driving around with Enzo to try and get him to fall asleep and take a nap.  It didn’t work.  Silly little man.

Week 32

While this pregnancy has a lot of similarities to my pregnancy with Enzo, there are also some definite differences.  One new thing is that over the past couple of weeks I started to develop a super itchy rash on my belly.  I had hardly any stretch marks with Enzo and suddenly I started getting more with bumpies and despite lotion, nothing was helping the itchiness. Like itchy to an extreme. So, I called the midwives and they said it sounds like PUPPS or pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy. They also said I can use hydrocortisone cream and Benadryl, but I think I’m going to look into oatmeal baths and more recently I read that Dandelion Root can apparently help as well.  I can’t even describe how uncomfortable it is, though, and from what I understand it doesn’t go away until after you give birth. On top of that… it’s spreading, so yay.

 Week 32

Aside from that fun, we’re both doing well and Baby Girl continues to be super active doing somersaults and one can only guess what else.  I have my next checkup tomorrow actually, so I should have a better idea of how much she currently weighs and all of that good stuff then.  I think it’s safe to say, though, that I’m looking forward to November a lot. 😉

Week 31

While I’d love to say I’m glowing with joy and loving being pregnant… I’m kind of ready for this part to be done.  Not to complain because I know I’m fortunate to be having another baby, but there are days when I’m just tired of all the not-so-great symptoms of pregnancy.

Week 31

I think perhaps it would be easier if Enzo was a little older.  Right now we’re still going through typical toddler stuff for his age, but it can be exhausting and I can’t really explain to him why I can’t carry him around as often as he’d like or why i can’t sit on the floor for as long or yada yada yada due to back aches and you name it.  While I certainly don’t want Baby Girl arriving too early, I’ll admit that I’m looking forward to having my body back… sort of.

Week 31-2

She’s doing well, though, from what I can tell, and that really is all that matters.  The next two months will probably fly by, so I’ll suck it up and do my best to glow as much as I can and focus on all the good changes coming up rather than wondering how we’re going to function as a family of 4.

At least Enzo woke up sassy and full of energy this morning, despite being up late last night and having a really hard time sleeping.  He was super stuffed up and has had a really runny nose for a couple of days.  He was not interested in going to bed last night and after about half an hour or so he decided he didn’t want to stay in bed anymore because he couldn’t sleep, so we let him sleep with us… again.  We all tossed and turned, and part of the problem has been the temperature.  If it’s not too cold, it’s too warm, and I think Enzo is still adjusting to some room changes.  We tried to not rearrange his room too much, but we did take the rocking chair out and moved his dresser, and that may have thrown him off.  The past two nights I’ve gone to give him his bottle (which he usually demands) in the new nursery, but he only has a few sips and wants to go to his room, so apparently we aren’t going to have any issues weaning him off the bottle – he’s just decided he doesn’t want/need it anymore.  Granted, we’ll see how long that lasts.  He also has been a bear when it comes to changing his diaper and taking a bath, so I’m really hoping he’s done with that soon.  I’m finding it  a lot harder to wrestle a toddler these days. 😉
