I can’t really be sure who all reads this little blog, but if you do, it’s probably obvious I’ve been away. Sometimes you just need a break and I’ve been busy and had a lot going on and this blog has fallen lower on my list of priorities than everything else. It probably will continue to remain there until the new year, is my guess.
One of the biggest happenings of late has been with Uzi. Ultimately he was diagnosed with diabetes, so we’ve been adjusting.
I am so glad that’s all it is, though. I was legitimately concerned we were going to lose him, but he was one hearty cat, and so loved. Phoebe even decided to be Uzi for Halloween.
When all is said and done, the changes haven’t been too severe. We moved a litter box upstairs to be closer to him as he regained his strength (alas, we discovered after the cats had basically destroyed the carpet in Phoebe’s room with pee, which really doesn’t take much – long story, but I think it will need to be replaced because we can’t leave the door open and I’ve tried so many things. I’ve got one last cleaner on the way, but if that doesn’t work, we’re just going to have to tear it all up). The injections are going well. I give him two a day and we’ve adjusted feedings. He is gaining weight again (!!!) and is slowly returning to being our Uzi. He has much less patience for Vega, however.
She is a fairly large turd, let’s just face it. I heard Uzi growl for the first time in years, however, when he wasn’t in the mood to deal with her shenanigans. I do also have to guard him while he has his evening meal. I give the other cats a mini meal, but they go after his, and quite frankly the girls do NOT need to put on any more weight.
So, needless to say things have been a little crazy and that’s just the tip of the ice berg. I’m sure I’ll check in now and then, but in the meantime I’m working on reaching my reading goal for the year, doing some gaming, and really just trying to relax.
Happy Hump Day!
