Week 30

This was a rough week for sure.  Not so much pregnancy-wise, although I’ve decided it’s definitely time to find a chiropractor. I’d love to go to the chiropractor I went to when I was pregnant with Enzo, but alas… since my work office moved, I’m no longer near her office.  I’m definitely more achy and I’m at that point where regular adjustments would be so helpful.

Week 30

Anyway, the week was a little on the rough side with Enzo being under the weather for most of it – starting on Wednesday.  He just wasn’t himself and was extra snuggly and not eating or drinking and he had a low-grade fever.  His tummy was bothering him, and we figured teething also had something to do with things, but decided to take him to the doctor on Friday when things hadn’t really improved.  The doctor confirmed that he had teeth coming in and a red throat, but he tested negative for strep, so all we could do was take him home again and just let him do what he needed – sleep, and feed him whatever he’d eat and keep offering fluids.  Well, he seemed to perk up and was acting more like himself until Saturday night when he woke up screaming.  Our first thought was a night terror, which he’s had before, but usually after a minute or so, he’ll calm down.  That wasn’t happening this time.  We tried to pick him up to calm him, but he’d thrash his body and try and push himself out of our arms, so we’d try and lay him down – well when we did that, he’d do the same thing.  It was at this time I called my mom while Josh got dressed – I always call my mom in case there’s something rational we haven’t thought of – but she agreed – the hospital was the best idea.  By the time we got into the car, Enzo had calmed down, but he definitely wasn’t himself. He just sat perfectly still the entire drive, and didn’t move much until we got admitted.  Long story short (too late?) there was definitely fluid in his ears and his left one was especially red and angry.  So, they gave him some numbing drops for his ears and ibuprofen and we went home.  He definitely didn’t sleep well the rest of the night, though, and even last night he fussed several times, but we’re taking the doctor’s advice and not giving him antibiotics unless it gets worse, and he seems to be okay today.

Week 30-2

So, we’ve got one cranky, teething toddler who is getting over an ear infection, and two very exhausted parents in our household.  We’ve also got a busy week ahead of us as the house needs to be readied for painting on Thursday.  Don’t ask me how we’re going to get it all done.

Week 29

Another week down, and we’re slowly getting closer and closer. I just realized this morning that we’re only 10 weeks away from our due date tomorrow.  I definitely don’t feel ready yet, and that need to “nest” is kicking in.  I’m sure I’ll feel better once we can finally start putting together nursery furniture and can get everything in order.  Sometimes I think we’re a little crazy to have two kids so close together in age, but the craziness will only last so long, right?

Week 29

I’m sure Enzo will be the perfect little helper once Baby Girl arrives. 😉  This past weekend he’s been helping throw garbage away in the trash!  He was helping to clean off his highchair and knew to throw the dropped pieces of food into trash, so that was awesome.  Less awesome was me seeing him with my cell phone run over to the garbage can and hearing him say “Bye Bye” as he prepared to toss it in.  I guess we’ll have to work on what’s trash and what’s not…

Week 28 (a little late)

Things are definitely different this time around with number 2.  On the down side I have a lot more spider veins, which sucks and is probably due to my job that leaves me sitting more often than when I was pregnant with Enzo, and apparently that old wive’s tale that a girl steals your beauty is somewhat true.  I have so much acne… I feel like I’m a teenager again.  On the plus side, my heartburn doesn’t seem as bad, though that could change, and while my sciatic acts up, I want to say I’ve been more able to fix things on my own this time around with less need for a chiropractor. Granted, I can’t remember when that really hit with Enzo, so I guess it could still get bad again. 😉  I did, however, pass my glucose test and according to Katherine (midwife) our little girl is around 2lbs, and I have really good levels of amniotic fluid (again, also explaining some of my size).  So all is well!

 Week 28

I’m going to try and start doing prenatal yoga again, and some more exercising. I admit, we’ve been so busy that my exercise has really only been in the form of playing with Enzo and doing stuff around the house, or just being exhausted and not really doing anything.  Tsk tsk.  My office has also moved taking away the great walking path I used to go on at lunch time and also making it harder to run errands, so there have been a lot of changes in my routine and in our family routine as Josh is starting to take Enzo to day care more often.  I’m really just hoping to get more settled this month.  The rest of the upstairs gets painted towards the end of month, and then we can focus on getting the nursery ready, and just finally getting the house unpacked and organized.

 Smooch

In the meantime, it’s finding time in the 2 hours before bedtime each night to relax, but also potentially exercise and get things done around the house.  It’s so easy to just skip prental yoga or pilates and cleaning or tidying up to just go and flop in bed like a sea lion…  which is what I often feel like, and know will only get worse as I grow bigger and bigger.  Hooray?  Just kidding. I do feel blessed that I’m able to experience motherhood and it really is a gift to carry this little girl and feel her grow and move each day.

Week 27

While I’m sleeping pretty well now (especially since I bought a body pillow), I could definitely do without the weird pregnancy dreams.  Thankfully not too many of them have been nightmares so far, but I know towards the end with Enzo, they’d get more and more vivid and sometimes I’d wake up in a cold sweat, heart pounding and completely freaked out.  Lately they’ve just been random and often odd.

 Week 27

I’ve also started to notice more Braxton Hicks contractions as well.  With Enzo I didn’t know what they felt like or if I was having them, but now I’m definitely sure that’s what I’ve been experiencing.  Nothing else is new on the baby front. We’re slowly trying to accumulate everything we’ll need for Baby Girl, but haven’t put together any furniture yet since we’re waiting until her room is painted.  I’m also ready for Fall and Winter clothing so we can start actually buying her outfits.  Plus, with this heat… yeah, a little Fall weather would be okay with me. 😉

Week 26

Well, aside from one active little mover and shaker, not much else is new as far as Baby Girl goes. We are, however, getting closer to starting on her room. Today we had painters come and paint our entryway/living room/dining room/kitchen and we’ll have them come back and do the bedrooms and bathrooms.  While we could probably do the bedrooms and bathrooms ourselves… we decided to spend the extra money to save on time and sanity otherwise we’d have to paint when Enzo is asleep and we’d be lucky if we got one room done a weekend – if that, with the way things tend to work.  Plus, this way we spend fewer days amongst paint fumes and it’ll take painters 1 day rather than the several weeks it would take us.

 Week 26

I’m really excited to make the house look more like ours and even more excited to get the kids’ rooms all decorated.  Eventually we’ll probably repaint the office downstairs and the guest/game room, but for now we’ll leave them as is.   I’ll post the before and after shots later… hopefully I can get the books back on shelves for the after shots, but it’s really more about the color of the walls than the décor, right? 😉
