Fall?

What can I say? Not much is new, which is unusual for us. Normally we’d be out doing things, but I’m a tad worn out lately. We’re nearing the end of the 1st trimester, though, and next week we should hear baby’s heartbeat for the first time! We’re really excited about it, and I’m excited at the prospect of feeling a little better in the upcoming weeks (fingers crossed).

In the meantime, though, I kind of just want to do this all day:

Cats have the life.

Now, bring on Fall!  I actually really like Fall… snuggling up with a cup of hot cider or a glass of milk and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, plus the colors of the changing leaves. The only thing that would make it complete would be cooler temperatures – what’s up with this weather? Normally I like 80 degree temps, but I’m kind of ready for sweater weather now!

Every weekend should be three days!

We ended up having both a relaxing and productive holiday weekend, and really the only thing that could be better would be if every weekend was 3 days long. After a crazy windy storm on Friday night, we got up Saturday morning to drive to IKEA to pick up a buffet/sideboard/whatever you wish to call it. As much as I hate how busy IKEA always is, I love it so. Josh and I walk around and pick out the styles we like and plan our next house out.  I like a decent mix of modern and traditional, whereas Josh is usually more traditional. Anyway, we managed to get a buffet and a new coffee table to boot (no more banged knees)! We also got a couple of pans and some mice for the cats… because why not?

And an awesome rug that may or may not be for small children… hey, we’re having kids one of these days, and now our hot wheels have a place to race. :p

Catnip coma…

Sunday we decided to start the day off right with breakfast! I have never made biscuits and gravy from scratch, and it’s so easy! Plus, we got to break in our new table outside! Exclamation points!!

After that it was movie time, and we decided our theme would be movies that we hadn’t seen in a really long time or not at all, and so it went: Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Akira, Caddy Shack and Penn & Teller Get Killed. We also watched some X-Files and Game of Thrones – how can there be so few likeable characters? Ugh.

Monday was more of the same, starting with breakfast – you can never go wrong with Eggs in a Basket.

We hung pictures from our honeymoon road trip and then it was time for kebabs and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, because what better way to finish up a long weekend?

At least it’s a short work week, right? Then it’s just counting down the days for the next 3-day weekend. 😉

Mmmm… milk.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks since we got back from our trip, and I can’t believe it’s almost July already. I really can’t believe it’s been almost 3 weeks since our trip… where did the time go?  Time to sort through the photos some more and finish our rearranging project as the house is still in a bit of disarray. My motivation has been elsewhere, though, and I think we’re still getting back into the swing of things, and really just wishing we were still on vacation. 😉

The cats have been up to no good…

They now whine rather incessantly to get outside.  I suppose I can’t really blame them, though.

Otherwise, it’s milk and cheesecake this week and lots of procrastination… not a bad way to spend the summer.

Time for sun!

The weekend was cold and blustery, but we did venture out on Saturday for a bad movie day with friends, and then again on Sunday for some shopping. First, however, Josh decided to suprise me with breakfast again!

I admit, I was clueless at first when I started seeing some of the ingredients, but then when he pulled out the deep fryer – I knew. Monte Cristos! Josh decided instead of normal lunch Monte Cristos, to turn them into real breakfast sandwiches, so they were done with eggs, ham, and cheese. Most impressive of all was how he managed to run all of the stations he had set up at one time. 😉

I just tried to stay out of the way, flip bacon as needed and play with Ziggy. Who knew that plastic eggs could offer a cat hours of enjoyment?

Oh yeah, and because Josh wasn’t sure the sandwiches were enough, I threw together what we had in the cupboards and made a pear cobbler sort of thing that I baked in the oven. Nothing too impressive, but I can see how good it could be with fresh pears and perhaps a few other additions.

After stuffing ourselves completely, we headed out towards Target, and then made a quick detour. Twice a month or more, we drive past an antique store and finally decided to stop there as well as another antique store. I am now lusting after several vintage purses and a variety of other random items. We didn’t leave empty-handed, though! We found a Strawberry Shortcake glass to add to our collection of 80s cartoon glasses as well as this cute set of encylopedias from 1952 for Mothers and a 1930s Psychology book as well as a 1937 copy of Gone with the Wind.

Obligatory Update

The first half of April has gone by surprisingly quickly, though, it would still be nice if it was this day next month because then finals will be over and we’ll be that much closer to going on our honeymoon road trip.  In the meantime, we’ve been enjoying the warmer weather (when it isn’t snowing, that is).

We did get dressed up and go to a wedding yesterday, and had a good time. I promise we had more fun than the picture denotes. What can I say? I am not comfortable in front of the camera.

Time to hit the books again, but at least I know that Josh won’t be bored in the meantime.  😉
