Week 37

Not much new going on this week… just patiently trying to wait.  The last month is definitely hard, though.  Time seems to both drag and go too quickly at the same time.  I’m looking forward to not feeling so uncomfortable anymore, but at the same time, I imagine it’ll be strange not being pregnant anymore and instead having this little tiny person depending on us for so much.  On the plus side, I think we’re as ready as we’ll ever be.

In the meantime, I’m really excited about the warmer weather, and I’m glad the baby will be born at such a nice time  of the year – when everything is warming up and we spend so much time outside grilling and my favorite part – gardening. I’m looking forward to getting a garden started again!

While we’re still trying to get a few things accomplished before baby arrives, I think today will be more of a relaxing day.  I started my morning out with red raspberry leaf tea (I’ve been drinking it because it’s supposed to be good for the uterus) and a muffin,

While others decided catnip induced craziness was more their style.

I believe he’s now worn himself out and is fast asleep on Josh’s lap.  At least all we had planned was doing our taxes today and a few minor other things. 😉

Week 31

Already it seems baby is starting to slow down a bit with a growing lack of room, but he’s still quite a mover. The other night he got really agitated, though, when I woke up from a nightmare (which was odd in itself since I can’t remember the last time I had a dream like that) and poor Baby Boy was just going nuts.  My heart was racing and he was moving around like crazy after I woke up – Josh said it was the most he’s ever felt him, and I’d have to agree. Otherwise, Baby Boy is doing well and we have another appointment next week.

This morning for our Sunday breakfast we had bacon and homemade blueberry pancakes – I can’t do box pancakes anymore… they’re just not nearly as satisfying. 😉

Then we went through the big box of baby clothes my sister sent us…

And then Josh and Uzi put together the glider for the nursery, which I then immediately tried out. I’m so glad we didn’t get a bigger one as it would have been a tight fit otherwise!

While I kept my feet up, Josh put up the Mario decals in the nursery, bringing us another step closer to completion – yahoo!

That pretty much sums up our day… we’ve been keeping an eye on Ziggy who has been a bit out of sorts today, and we’ll probably be taking her to the vet tomorrow. We’re not sure what’s up, but think it might be tummy related – she’s been on the couch most of the day and just hasn’t been herself along with a few other issues, which we thought were stress related until this morning.  So… fingers crossed it’s just something simple. In the meantime, she’s been enjoying the extra attention and just having us nearby to offer constant pettings and we’ve received many purrs in return.

Week 30

Baby Boy is doing good this week, and so am I.  He continues to be a mover and a shaker and has switched positions a couple of times keeping us on our toes.  While my belly has gotten bigger, it seems like the progression has gotten a tad slower, which is good since my clothes are getting really tight and I don’t want to have to buy too many more items with just a mere two months to go!  Two months – that’s it!?

With the weather being fairly decent this weekend, we decided to get out and drive to Stillwater to check out the antique shops and book shops that they have out there.  I hadn’t realized what a cute little town it is, and definitely want to go back when the weather is warmer.  I managed to flesh out my book collection a bit, including finding some good deals on Nancy Drew books – one day my collection will be complete and hopefully we’ll have a daughter one day who will love them as much as I did growing up.

I also found a fun cookbook that I’m still flipping through, but comes complete with some help on what to do if you need to properly set a table and host on your own without a maid, as well as menu ideas for young children.

We were also able to find a few glasses to add to our drinking glass collection, which also means time to reorganize the cabinet a bit and get rid of the “boring” glasses.

And while we were in Stillwater, we went to a local brewery – me to rest my weary feet, and Josh so he could sample the beer.  I may have sampled off of Josh’s, but I couldn’t let him waste the stout, now could I?  They had a coffee stout that would have been magical with a big piece of chocolate cake.  Yum.  Thankfully, I had truffles in the car, though, so the chocolate craving was fulfilled.  We also picked up a pint glass to add to our pint glass collection… okay, so we may have more glasses than we’ll ever need, but at least they’re awesome.

And then it was a mostly leisurely Sunday in which we slept in, went to see the movie Chronicle and then went and upgraded our cell phones, followed by some kitty snuggling because you know they miss us when we decide to not stay at home on a weekend.  We may have one of the neediest cats on the planet, but he’s pretty cute.

Week 28

It’s been a decent week over all – no changes to report on the baby front, though, the nursery walls are now patched and ready for decorating thanks to Josh tackling a bunch of projects this week. Aside from being a little achy, I’m feeling good, and realized that after this next week’s appointment, I’ll be entering that stage where I have to go in every other week for check-ups. The big day is definitely drawing closer now that I guess I’ve officially entered the third trimester!

In other events, not much is new.  This winter has been odd, but I admit it’s nice that while it’s still cold, it’s not so cold that Josh can’t grill up dinner. 😉

This meant the cats wanted out of course, but they didn’t want the cold, so Josh carried a huffy Uzi back inside after a few minutes.  I’ve never known a cat to actually huff at you when he’s irritated, but this one certainly does. I think they were placated later, though.

Our cats spoiled? Never!

Sadly enough, not much else has been going on. I think things will start to get busier, though, as we get further along and prepare for the Wonton’s arrival. This month isn’t too busy so far, but that can always change. Depending on the weather, I think we’re going to go do some exploring next weekend to get out of the house, and I have a couple of decent coupons to use on baby stuff, so we may see about using those before they expire.  And now I see it’s almost time for the big game to commence, so that means it’s time for leftover homemade mac n’ cheese!  Probably better than my Friday night dinner, but despite the pain, I’ve got to have pizza every once in a while.

Week 26

It’s been a pretty productive week, and Baby Boy is super active – it literally feels like he’s bouncing off the walls. He woke Josh up because Josh had fallen asleep with his hand on my belly and the Wonton had decided it was time to test out his ninja skills.

The belly is definitely growing, and I’ve been asked several times if I’m having twins or when my due date is because “it must be any day now.”  While it doesn’t do a lot for the ‘ole self-esteem, I don’t care – I’m not measuring larger than I should be, and I feel perfectly comfortable with my new form.  Besides, if I was too much smaller, Baby Boy might run out for room for his acrobatics. 😉

For fun – this is me at 20 weeks wearing the same outfit. :p

In other events, we’ve been busy getting things ready for the baby, like putting together a stroller, which Uzi immediately discovered offers the perfect spot for stowaways.

And today we put together a dresser, the crib, and changing table so that we’ll plenty of room to store everything (and then some). We were laughing because the baby has nicer bedroom furniture than we do now, which is good because hopefully it’ll last a long time.

We still have a lot to organize and do, but I feel very good that the nursery is finally beginning to look like a nursery.
