Currently…

Reading… Written in My Own Heart’s Blood

Watching (on TV)… Game of Thrones, Girls, Call the Midwife (its back!!!)

Watching (movies)… Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Light Between Oceans

Listening to… A little bit of everything in order to put together some mixes for our road trip.  A road trip goes so much better with good tunes.

Drinking… Smoothies, Coffee, Tea, not as much wine

Eating… Too many April Fools Cupcakes. I’m kind of glad they’re all gone now. Ha!

Planning… Warm weather projects, both inside and out.

Feeling… Excited and happy!

Organizing… Not much really. I have things I need to organize, but I’ll wait until we get home.

Thankful… That it is almost vacation time!  We didn’t go anywhere last year, so this vacation is long overdue!

Loving… How much better I feel when I take my Super B12 B Complex. I have more energy and I feel like my mood is improved a lot as well.

Smiling… At the massive amounts of art the kids bring home each day.  For a while, Phoebe was the artist, but Enzo has started drawing a lot lately (people especially) and creates fantastic stories to go with them like the one about a potato and two mad guys.

Thoroughly enjoying… That it is spring!  We’ve been opening the windows and enjoying some amazing sunrises.

Conjuncti-LAME

Here we go again.  It’s never a good thing when my phone starts ringing at work and I see that it’s day care.  I dread answering because it’s never good news, you know?  Today?  Enzo has pink eye… again.  For the past I don’t know how many weeks it’s been circulating through the preschool room despite them disinfecting everything. I would rather get a root canal than go through another round of eye drops with Enzo who acts as though we are torturing him.  It’s going to be a nasty 5 days ahead of us.

It’s bad enough that the rain won’t quit and our high for the day was a whopping 49 degrees.  I give up.  I’m going to bed and will consider waking up when the weather is nice again.  Okay, I’ll stop whining… it is really green thanks to the rain, so there’s that.  It’s also my favorite time of year because of all the springtime babies.  I saw two families of geese crossing busy roads with their large broods of goslings.  The other day I saw this adorable family from a distance as well.

BabyGeese

I need a bigger lens so I can get better pictures of this particular eagle and nest.  I don’t want to risk getting too close since eagles really don’t like you too close to their nests and I’ve heard they’ll abandon their nests even.

BaldEagle

Well, it’s been a long day and my background soundtrack has been a lot of children’s TV since I needed to get some work done while Enzo convalesced.  I figure we’ll make up for the extra TV by getting out when he’s not infectious this weekend.  Or maybe I’ll put him to work again… he did so good on that shelf that I’m sure I can find something else for him to do. Child labor at it’s finest!

Get out those shovels kids, it’s time to dig!  Oh, and move a pile of rocks… and pull some weeds.  They’re going to earn their keep this weekend!  Just kidding… sort of. 😉  Happy Friday everyone!

April Showers

So much green everywhere is making me so happy!  Which is especially nice on a day that is somewhat somber after the passing of Prince.  I wasn’t a massive fan, but he was a talented artist and driving by his home seeing the flowers and many people there is just sad.

I’m holding off for another weekend or two until we go pick out flowers and stuff, but we’re all excited to get outside and work on the landscaping some more. There are so many things I’d like to get done inside and out of the house including little things like upgrades to flooring in the kitchen and even the faucets. In the meantime, though, we wait for the Spring rains to let up.

CrocodileHop

Thankfully we have lots of games to play inside and we’ve been pulling out the board games more often.  Do ignore the fact that this picture was clearly taken in December. We really did play it the other day!

CandyLand2

Phoebe doesn’t usually have the patience to sit through games yet, but Enzo is catching on quick to so many games and is still greatly loving Poopy Head. We like to team up and try and get Josh to end up with all of the poops while he’s distracted by Phoebe.

WindowArr

Another great find I came across are these awesome window markers that Crayola makes that crystallize on the window as they warm up.  They are so fun to watch as they change, plus they clean up easy and we don’t end up wasting any paper. Considering Enzo reminded me it’s Earth Day today, I felt this was worth noting. 😉

Happy Earth Day everyone and have a wonderful weekend! Do something that brings and spreads joy.

Driving, Toys and Eagles

Last Friday day care was closed for annual training, so rather than sitting around the house, I thought it would be fun to get out and do something. The weather was supposed to be nice, so I figured we should go for a drive and hopefully see some wildlife. The National Eagle Center is around 2 hours away, and then I realized that Lark Toys was just 10 minutes away from that, so we had our plan!  We popped a movie on for the kiddos to watch and we were golden!  Phoebe managed to take a quick nap in the van and by the time we arrived at Lark, both of them were more than ready to get out some energy.  Also, they were hungry. Why is it that whenever we’re at home they pick at their food, but the second they get in the van they (okay, mostly Enzo) become famished and want all of their snacks in the first 5 minutes.

The kids were overcome with joy looking at all the toys, and thankfully there were a lot of toys that are actually okay for kids to play with while they look.  Phoebe did not want to leave behind “her” baby that she had found and it took some coaxing to get them to move on to other things. They have been playing with their own kitchen and toys a lot more since we went, so I call that a win since it reminded them how much they actually enjoy playing “house.”

Besides all of the great toy displays, the highlight of Lark Toys was the carousel.  I wish I had gotten more pictures of it, but the kids were antsy and had so much pent up energy still.  We went on one ride, got some lunch and then decided to head to our next stop.

I think we were both a little surprised at how busy the National Eagle Center was on a Friday.  It was a lot later in the day than I had originally planned on arriving, but with kids that’s not exactly unusual.  It was chilly, but the kids enjoyed some fresh air while we looked for eagles. Alas, they were all pretty far off and despite being zoomed in as far as I could, it just wasn’t far enough. Inside, however, the kids got to see them up close and without glass or anything in the way.

We tried to stay as long as possible, but both kids were acting rather unruly and at this point could not hold their wiggles in and were running around and yelling and the last thing I wanted was for them to get underfoot of other people who were there trying to enjoy their day as well. We went ahead and called it and headed home so the kids could run around like maniacs in the comfort of their own home.  We did get to see more eagles flying around and some in nests, but one of these days I’ll just have to drive around on my own… or wait until next season to do so.

Spring!

Spring is here! Our 60 degree weather is supposed to continue, possibly even hitting 70! Also, our bunny friends are back and they’ve grown. One was at the feeder this morning and didn’t mind us going in and out of the door – it just stayed and munched happily away, so I’m glad I’ll be able to get some good pictures of them this year since they won’t be running away as soon as we open the door. We’ve had some blue jays and cardinals and a number of other birds as well, and it fills me with joy to see all the critters coming back and everything coming to life. I can’t wait to start planting flowers and maybe I can find a nice comfy chair for the yard this year. It would be really nice if we could fix up the little patio area down by the horseshoe pits this year as well. I wonder if it’s a project we could start tackling before Josh’s party… Hmmm… it would be awesome. Get some seating down there, some solar twinkle lights or something. We’ll have to see.
Have a wonderful day everyone!
