Hooray for Long Weekends

It feels like this weekend was far too short, but that’s always the case.  We did manage to get out and enjoy the weather a bit, though, we may have worn the baby out on Sunday.  We figure it’s never too late for him to get used to his parent’s love of wandering.

On Sunday we decided to go to local winery, Woodland Hills. We figured it would be a good first with Enzo since there are plenty of places to picnic and hang out. He did really great and only got fussy in his car seat towards the end of our tasting, and then he was even more smiley once he could get out and look at everyone and everything. Josh and I bought a glass and went outside to sit on the grass and let Enzo stretch a bit.

He seemed to enjoy himself, and after a quick nap, we packed him up and went to a second winery. We didn’t get pictures because I had to skip that tasting.  Enzo was a little done at that point, so this face was a little more fitting:

I think he just got overtired and there was some very loud music at the second winery, which Enzo did NOT care for (can’t blame him really, it wasn’t very good music) so I sat outside with him and tried to get him to eat some lunch and coax him to finish up his nap from earlier.

Today we stayed in after doing some grocery shopping and then Enzo took a super looooong nap to most likely make up for yesterday.  He did get some one on one time with Uzi, though, who very obligingly let Enzo pet him for the first time!  Enzo was squirming and reaching for Uzi and Uzi sat very still while Enzo wrapped pet him and played with his fur. It did, however, end quickly when Enzo grabbed a little too much fur too tightly, but Uzi didn’t get mad, he just meowed and quickly walked away.

We’re ending the weekend in a quiet way since we take little man to his 4 month check up in the morning, so bath and a book and he’s out.  Now to read something myself or flop in front of the TV and catch up on some shows?

2 Months

How is it possible that Enzo is 2 months old?  Time is flying by, and before we know it, I have a feeling this summer will be over. In just 2 months time, Enzo’s personality has definitely started to come out, and I’m excited to see who he will become as he continues to grow.

I love to watch him as he discovers new things – like his hands and colors and shapes around him. He is curious and playful and when he isn’t napping he has us wrapped around his tiny fingers. I think the cats are definitely starting to like him as well… just tonight we saw Uzi rubbing his head against Enzo’s before he lay down next to him – of course he moved as soon as I grabbed the camera. 😉

My favorite time with Enzo is in the mornings (especially on weekends when we actually have time to be lazy) because he seems to be a morning person like me. He usually has the biggest smiles for us once he wakes up and those smiles… oh those smiles. He’s the sweetest baby.  Sure, he has his fussy moments, but  overall he seems to be a pretty mellow and happy baby.

And who can resist baby butt? Come on, it’s adorable!!

He’s also doing better with tummy time and I he’s getting closer and closer to rolling over from back to front. He’s not especially fond of tummy time, but he’s so strong!  He can hold his own head up for good amounts of time and he’s been trying to stand a lot.

I’m pretty much smitten with this little man, and his dad is pretty awesome too… quite unexpectedly he brought me these today!  He may or may not have been in the “dog house” and got these as a peace offering. All is well, though.  Babies make new parents tired and cranky sometimes. 😉

Summertime!

While admittedly it doesn’t seem like I have as much time as I used to, I did finally manage to get our garden started, and get some flowers planted so our deck doesn’t look as bare anymore.

We got lettuce growing…

Some spinach…

Tomatoes… well, what will soon be tomatoes.

Carrots…

Jalapenos…

And a few other items and flowers not pictured. Uzi is, of course, thrilled that the weather is nice enough now to sit on the deck, and both of the cats have been on their best behavior while outside – probably because they know our patience is thin when it comes to any insubordination lately.

As for Enzo – he’s been thoroughly enjoying daycare, and I’m just glad to get him in the evenings and on weekends. I’m happy that he likes being around the other babies so much, and my heart aches with gladness whenever he greets me with those big smiles of his.

I do believe the cats are getting used to him. 😉 My sweet, sweet boy.

Long Weekend

Well, every weekend has been a long weekend for me lately, but this weekend even Josh got an extra day, which was very nice. On Saturday we had a few friends and family over and had some barbecue and got to show off Mr. Enzo some more.

We were also able to do some lounging, which we all enjoyed and needed as Enzo has been going through a fussy phase.

We also celebrated Josh’s birthday this weekend, and Enzo was kind enough to doze off long enough for us to eat cake and for his papa to open up a present or two.

I decided to get Josh the Annihilator… not only a useful tool in case we have a lot of work to do on our next house, but it’s also a badass way to kill zombies should we run into any.

I was also able to start some gardening, which I’ve been waiting for, but alas – once again I didn’t buy enough potting soil, so I’ll have to get more this week so I can finish things up.

And now time to cut this short as Enzo is a bit fussy and because really… not much is new.  Thanks to my in-laws offering to babysit this week, we will be going to see ‘The Avengers’ finally on Thursday and are looking forward to it. It’ll be our first time away from baby together, and I guess I should get used to that as he unfortunately will be starting daycare on the 7th.  I’m not going to think about that just yet, though.

Life with Baby

I can’t believe that Enzo is already more than 3 weeks old… time is flying by already, and he’s had a busy first few weeks. When my mom was here, we took him to see the Biggest Ball of Twine for his first Random Trippers outing.

Then my sister and my nephew came to visit us for a long weekend!

As you can see, Uzi was really excited to have a playmate.

While they were here, Josh made us frog legs, which I admit took some mind over matter.  They’re pretty tasty, but it’s hard to get past what you’re eating… at least for me anyway.

We also got to give Enzo his first bath!  Unfortunately he wasn’t super stoked about it in the infant tub, so now he just takes baths with me because he greatly prefers being more submersed in the water.  Hopefully this means he’ll one day be a better swimmer than his mom. 😉

Aside from that, I try to make sure he gets a little time on his play mat, but really we spend a lot of time snuggling and napping. Since we only have a few more weeks left together, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
