Week In Review – The one with bubbles and TMNT

Happy Monday!

Linking up with Meghan from Clean Eats, Fast Feets for another Week in Review!

WEEK IN REVIEW (in no particular order)

  • Ordered caterpillars for the kiddos, so they can hopefully watch them turn into butterflies. I say hopefully because often my first time trying things like this doesn’t work out. Fingers crossed!

Cat-But1

  • Watched it rain and let the kids splash around in puddles even though we were running late.
  • Brought out the bubble machine for the first time this year!

  • Did a lot of reading, including starting a new parenting book to hopefully give us some new tools to work with our somewhat defiant little man.
  • Also did some thinking about starting the kids at a new day care center since we aren’t sure his current teacher(s) are the best fit for him. That’s a post for another day, however.
  • Dressed up as princesses and played with snapchat.

  • Celebrated the fact that after almost 4 months, Josh has found employment. We haven’t shared that fact with many people, but it’s been causing a fair amount of stress in our household.
  • Bought a new lawnmower because ours broke… technically Josh did this, so the kids and I pulled out bikes and the play house and… played.

  • Played Ponies and Littlest Pet Shop with the kids A LOT because Josh brought home new finds from the thrift store. Not gonna lie, I might have a slight MLP obsession.  See My Collection and (some) of Phoebe’s.

  • Celebrated Enzo turning 4 (a tad early). He really turns 4 on Wednesday. Unbelievable.

Week In Review – Sunshine and Poo

Happy Monday!

WEEK IN REVIEW (in no particular order)

  • Finally finished Mad Men. I had been waiting around for Part 2 of the last season and then just kind of forgot about it until randomly remembering. Aside from the whole Betty thing, I thought the last episode was a good one.
  • Went for a walk down by the river on Wednesday when Phoebe decided we needed a day off from responsibility. So many bugs and we found out where the local teens hang out… or hobos? Who knows, really?

  • Got a fabulous new haircut and touched up my color. I feel ready for Spring!
  • Got a new game to play with the kiddos, which is kind of hilarious. It’s called Poopy Head, and while some adults (don’t tell my son’s preschool teacher) might think it’s vulgar, it hasn’t encouraged more potty talk and has been a huge hit with both kids.

  • Tried a new ab workout Friday morning only to somehow throw my hip out like a feeble old lady. I knew exercise was a horrible idea!
  • Spent most of Saturday outside and thoroughly enjoyed it even though everywhere was crowded. The kids really wanted to see baby animals at the zoo, but after we saw cows and goats they were over it and wanted to go play.

  • Went on yet another walk with both kids down to the river and I officially have my first sunburn of the year after this weekend!

  • Ate outside for the first time this year! Both kids were so excited they could barely keep still and eat. Birds! Cats! Dogs! Clouds! Airplanes!

Week in Review – The Random One

Happy Monday!

WEEK IN REVIEW (in no particular order) with pictures that aren’t even from last week, but were from a gorgeous sunset a few weeks ago that I took in the car while we were driving home from New Ulm.

  • Making progress with getting Phoebe to only use her nuk at bedtime. It’s a hard choice deciding between getting rid of the nuk right away or working on potty training. We don’t want to force too much change on her at once.
  • The weather is making me sad and my motivation has tanked. I really need sun and warmth stat! Thankfully this week is supposed to be great!
  • Call the Midwife has started up again, though, so that almost makes up for crappy weather and I started watching Outlander Season 2!
  • Have been trying to get my 10K steps a day in, but it isn’t easy where I work and I don’t always feel like walking around the house for an hour after the kids go to bed trying to get in more. At least I’m making the effort and once the weather gets nicer I’ll be more likely to go on walks during my lunch break.
  • Got a standing desk at work, which is kind of awesome. Now to just keep from dancing around when I listen to music and distracting people.

  • Got to visit with some friends from Missouri who recently had a new baby. Phoebe was very excited and happy to get to hold her.  What’s better than a real live baby doll?  I won’t lie, holding a baby made me almost want another one.
  • Made an appointment to get my hair cut… it’s time for a change.

Week in Review – Cupcakes and Ikea

Happy Monday!

WEEKLY RANDOM ACCOMPLISHMENTS (in no particular order)

  • Getting some extra sleep in. My body clearly needed it after falling asleep with Phoebe at 7:30 on Monday night and then when Josh tried to wake me up I just kind of stumbled into our bed and seriously did not want to move. I was half asleep as he laughed and turned off lights for me and don’t think I moved again until 4:00 or so.
  • Worked on the downstairs some more. It’s a constant thing right now as I figure out where to move stuff.

  • Went to Ikea with Phoebe to get a rug (they have the best cheap ones) for my office and we got the kids an easel with the money we got from selling their other drawing table that they fought over and didn’t use that often.

  • Went for my first lunchtime walk of the year and… got hives. HIVES again. It looks like one of my main triggers is the cold, and Cold Uriticaria is a thing. Anywhere the cold wind really hit had hives or was puffy and itchy and red like my arms, my chest and my scalp. Awesome. On the plus side, I now have a valid reason to move somewhere warmer!
  • Spent way too much money on delicious April Fools cupcakes. The Unicorn Poop ones were definitely worth it.  They were all kinds of rainbowy goodness.  So many good flavors!  Red Velvet (with or without glass) is always a favorite, though.

  • Showed Phoebe the joys of shelling peas. Once Enzo heard how much fun she was having, he joined us at the end. Granted, they still didn’t want to eat the Shepherd’s Pie that the peas went into. 😉

  • Finished reading Winter by Marissa Meyer and then sort of watched Crimson Peak. Alas, I didn’t think it was all that great.  I love Tom Hiddleston, but don’t like a lot of gore and the story wasn’t all that great either.
  • Put on my Fitbit again.  I haven’t been using it as regularly lately, and now with the weather starting to warm up I’m feeling inspired to do more walking and work on getting my steps in. I got over 12,000 on Sunday!

And that’s all I got.  Let the week begin!

Week In Review: The One with Toys and Eagles

Happy Monday!

WEEK IN REVIEW (in no particular order)

  • Didn’t feel guilty about resting a lot this week. Amazing how crappy a simple cold/sinus infection will make you feel.
  • Watched Spectre, which wasn’t as good as the previous Bond movies and was therefore kind of disappointing.
  • On Friday, day care was closed for training so I decided a long drive was in order to Lark Toys and the National Eagle Center (post later).

  • Managed to talk the kids into riding the carousel only once and walked away with only one small book and toy.

  • Only freaked out a little when Phoebe fell off the bed into the nightstand busting her lip. I held it together until I realized one of her teeth was missing (!?) and by missing I mean it was shoved up into her gum. Mom panic ensued.  To the dentist we go today!

  • Moved more furniture around because that’s apparently just what I do on the weekends.
  • Didn’t dwell on the things that are stressing me out big time. Every time the anxiety kicks in, I remember to take deep breaths and tell myself to take it one day at a time because we always manage to pull it together somehow.
