Week In Review – Not quite as expected

Since we were out and about yesterday, I’m posting my week in review today.

  • Went through all of our camping gear and did some thorough cleaning and organizing – it had been far too long.
  • Did a lot of sleeping – this cold/flu whatever virus has been a fun one.
  • Finished Season 1 of Road to Avonlea. The acting isn’t always great, but it feels good to return to P.E.I. and I think it’s about time I re-read Anne of Green Gables. It just gives me a happy, warm feeling.
  • Finished spreading the mulch out front. We still need a few more plants to fill in some spaces, but we’ve gotten so much accomplished!

  • Went camping, which is a story for a different day.  Our biggest takeaway was that some weather apps are not all that accurate and we ended up packing it up early.  The kids did however get to enjoy many, many hours in the car and then in a tent getting dripped on and also Dairy Queen.

These are our we-got-to-pack-up-in-the-rain-with-two-whiny-children faces.  He’s not actually picking his nose, though it looks like it.

  • Gave up social media and phone games for a week.  It really hasn’t been all that hard… I’m curious to see how the rest of the week goes considering this weekend was just so busy.

That’s all I’ve got… it was a very long weekend. Happy Monday… er Tuesday.

Week in Review – So much landscaping!

WEEK IN REVIEW (in no particular order)

  • Moved the kiddo’s table out of the kitchen, so now we all eat at the big table. It’s been good for all of us because it makes Josh and I put our phones down and the kids can’t see the TV as easily so it’s a good reason to turn it off.
  • Made plans for Memorial Day Weekend – we’re going camping! It’s also Josh’s birthday that weekend, so I’ve got to plan something for that too.
  • Made it through the week… pink eye is the bane of my existence right now. I’ve never had it so bad before, and now I have a nasty cold that just won’t quit.
  • We made huge progress outside in the yard. The kids helped pick out flowers and Josh and I accomplished some tasks that have been on our list for a while like finally tearing out the chives that overtook where a shrub once was. We replaced it with a lovely lilac.

(I don’t know why this won’t load right or let me correct it!!!)

  • Was ever so domestic and made homemade pizza and ice cream for Saturday night. Warm weather just does that to me.

And that’s all I’ve got.  It’ll be an early night for me as I try and give my body some much needed rest… after we finish mulching.

Happy Monday!

Week in Review – The short and sweet

Happy Monday!

It was a fairly rainy and grey week and I never feel like I accomplish as much when the weather is that way. I did get my bangs trimmed, though.

All of the butterflies emerged this weekend and despite Uzi knocking their home off of Enzo’s bookshelf, they all managed to survive and were released.

I got a surprise call from day care Friday morning letting me know that Enzo had pink eye and that I would need to come get him.  Thankfully drops have gotten easier, but he still insists that both Josh and I administer them.

In between working from home and caring for him on Friday we made several “meals” with these fun Melissa and Doug stickers.

I finally hung up my signed Secret of Nimh poster.

It warmed up on Sunday a bit, so we headed outside and Josh mowed the lawn.  I wish it hadn’t been so windy and chilly, though, we’re a bit behind on yard work.  Granted, we had frost advisories, so it’s probably good we hadn’t planted anything yet.

I enjoyed another nice Sunday afternoon nap with Phoebe. I’m really, really going to miss when these end.  Last night she also asked me to lay down with her and “Snuggle me” and it really doesn’t get much better than that.  Well, gee, if I have to, Kid.

Happy Monday!

WEEK IN REVIEW (in no particular order)

  • Enjoyed the fabulously nice weather, getting outside when I could for walks during lunch when I wasn’t running errands.
  • Put together a shelf with the kids. Enzo was excited to help and use the screwdriver. He actually did more than half the screws all by himself – I just had to do the last bit of tightening.

  • Our caterpillars formed their chrysalides, so we (Josh) moved them into their net home where we now wait for them to hopefully become butterflies. One of them we aren’t sure if it’s going to make it because it didn’t seem to fully cover itself…

  • Took Uzi outside for a walk at the kids’ insistence. He has been a giant turd since his first taste of freedom this year and keeps escaping now.

  • We took the kids to get haircuts, which were terribly overdue. I’m due for a bang trim too, actually. Put that on my list of things to do this week.
  • With the record-breaking temps on Friday, we decided to take the kids to get ice cream before dinner. The watermelon sherbet that Phoebe and I shared was amazing.

  • Josh and I saw Captain America: Civil War and it was just as awesome as we had hoped it would be.

  • Did some cuddling with the cats and took a nap with Phoebe on Sunday, which is the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

  • Josh tried out the new power washer, which was incredibly satisfying. Now to look into our outside water pressure issue… we can’t even use a sprinkler outside it’s so low.

Happy Monday!

Week In Review – Chilly, but sunny.

WEEK IN REVIEW (in no particular order)

  • I didn’t eat all of the leftover cake by myself, so I consider that a great accomplishment.
  • The kids had their 6 month cleanings at the dentist and had zero cavities and were praised for how clean their teeth were. I need to remember to schedule my own cleaning now.
  • Had a lot of good nights with no bedtime drama! This is huge!  Also, Phoebe slept several nights without calling me to her bedroom!! (She continues to pass out randomly when too tired, like mid-milk drinking).

  • Our caterpillars are not only alive, but they have currently started the whole chrysalis portion of their life cycle.
  • Enzo unfortunately wasn’t feeling great this weekend and ended up actually having pink eye after not having pink eye. Oy. Putting drops in his eyes takes 15 minutes minimum trying to talk him into it and usually ends with us having to wrestle a screaming/kicking ninja to the ground when negotiations fail.

  • Due to the pink eye, the kids missed a birthday party, so Phoebe and I went shopping. I gave her some choices, and she chose the mall first, where she led us directly to Payless so she could get new shoes.

  • Finally found a copy of a book straight from my childhood that I’ve been looking out for, for a while. Usually copies are more than I want to spend and not in the best of shape.  Fortune smiled upon me.

  • We were able to spend a lot of time outside with the kiddos. Enzo wakes up and usually wants to go outside right away, but I’m not a fan of 30 degree weather in the spring, so I get eye rolls and heavy sighs until we agree to go out.

  • Finally went to the park that is only a couple of minutes away. Why we don’t go more often is beyond me… it’s so close. Maybe because it’s too far too walk, but almost feels too close to drive to when you have to deal with car seats.
