Weekly Review – Daylight Savings, Swimming and Spontaneity

Happy Monday!

Linking up with Meghan from Clean Eats, Fast Feets for another Week in Review!

WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS (in no particular order)

  • Worked from home on Monday (as usual), but then unexpectedly on Tuesday as well when Enzo woke up with a nasty cough that I’d never heard before, so we took him in and he asked to stay home since he didn’t feel good. He’s thankfully at an age where I can still get work done even if he’s sick, though.
  • This isn’t my accomplishment, but I’m always proud of the kiddos, so here is one of Phoebe’s worksheets from last week.

  • Made it through Daylight Savings, but we’ll see how the rest of the week goes. Enzo slept great, but Phoebe was not at all ready to go to sleep Sunday night, so I let her snuggle in bed with me for a while before convincing her to try and sleep again.
  • Made some more progress downstairs with our big switch-up while trying to let the kids do whatever to keep them busy because their version of “helping” isn’t always helpful. 😉 Oh yeah, and Phoebe wanted to try “Undies” but after 3 accidents decided she wanted her diaper again. Next time, Phoebe!

  • We finally took the kiddos swimming! They’ve been asking, but we’ve been on the fence because the last time Enzo wanted to swim he kind of chickened out and didn’t enjoy an actual pool.  This time they were both really brave almost from the get go.  Phoebe went out to her armpits and didn’t get too freaked when she slipped a little and went under.  Enzo panicked when he went under and was ready to get out, though.  He did, however, go under this waterfall thing, which is HUGE considering even rinsing his hair in the bath is an issue. I think it is indeed time to get them into swim lessons… especially Phoebe since she’s fairly fearless right now.  Enzo might take some coaxing – he refused to lay on his back even with me holding him.
  • After swimming we decided to be super spontaneous with the kids (which doesn’t happen that often) and drove an hour out of our way for dinner. They napped a little bit, but despite being tired, did great. They colored and we let the kids play on our phones when they started getting antsy (we figured it was worth breaking a rule to keep them happy and entertained).

I foresee much more spontaneity in our future!

Weekly Review – Sunshine and Basement Chaos

Linking up with Meghan from Clean Eats, Fast Feets for another Week in Review!

WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS (in no particular order)

  • Started doing some massive rearranging in our basement. I don’t know why we feel the need to constantly rearrange in a space that leaves us with very few options. Maybe we should build our next house that way we can design a floorplan that allows us to freely mix things up whenever we feel the urge. Now to finish…

  • Went to the doctor to have an ankle lump looked at. I’ve had some ongoing mild pain and discomfort and a random hard lump popped up out of nowhere.  X-ray showed no calcification or bone, so I’m supposed to keep an eye on it.
  • Had a really good meal thanks to Blue Apron. Empanadas for the win – never would have thought of adding dried apricots.

  • Left work early on Friday thanks to some wicked vertigo that left me reeling and nauseous. Didn’t go away until after a good night’s rest, so maybe my body was telling me not to overdo it.

  • Didn’t kill any cats when I crawled into bed and smelled cat pee, and confirmed that our sheets/comforter did in fact smell like cat pee. Not okay, cat(s), not okay. I suspect Ziggy because she hates when we change anything.
  • Got out to enjoy some awesome weather on Sunday! We went to the zoo again and it was a beautiful day.  The kids were feisty, but we all made it out alive.

Week in Review – Kombucha and Sleep

Linking up with Meghan from Clean Eats, Fast Feets for another Week in Review!

WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS (in no particular order)

  • Finally tried Kombucha… I know, I know. I’m not gonna lie, the Scoby thing freaks me out. It’s so alien, but I’m going to get over how much I want to gag when looking at one and see about making our own. I’m a convert.

  • Started rearranging and organizing various closets (mostly the kiddos’).
  • Started sleep “training” the kids to fall asleep without a parent in the room. Phoebe has been far more open to the idea than Enzo. This is probably our biggest accomplishment of the week and hopefully as time passes, Enzo will also do the same.
  • Got out of the house and went to the zoo, and didn’t immediately leave when we saw how crazy busy it was. Seriously, we have never seen lines like that before.

  • After the zoo, we stopped at Sonic with the kids and let them watch Inside Out while we ate. Not so much an accomplishment unless you count the fact that fries were only spilled once and there was minimal drink spillage.

  • Finally watched The Martian – I read the book ages ago, and heard great things about the movie. I thought it was well done, if a little slow at times, but so was the book.

And just because… Ziggy chasing a lazer… sort of.

  • Finished the 2nd season of Supernatural and the 10th season of Grey’s Anatomy. Those are accomplishments, right?  Hey, I finished something, I’m counting it!

Week In Review – Busy Weekend

Linking up with Meghan from Clean Eats, Fast Feets for another Week in Review!

WEEKLY ACCOMPLISHMENTS (in no particular order and with very few pictures because it was that kind of week)

  • Started working out/exercising. It isn’t always easy to fit it in, but a little here and there is just going to have to work.
  • Finished setting up my bullet journal – still working on layout, though.
  • Finished Downton Abbey. I actually felt really good about the ending and it was one of the better show finales that I’ve seen.
  • Got the kiddos haircuts and then ice cream afterwards because it was one way of getting them to leave the play area of the mall.

  • Made lots of appetizers to munch on, but did not watch any football even though it was on in the background.

  • Bought everything for Pinterest inspired non-candy Valentines for the kids to take to daycare/preschool on Friday.
  • Bagged up some of the kids’ too-small clothes and pulled out some of the larger items that won’t be too large for very long.  I forgot how many cute clothes Phoebe already has for warmer weather (whenever that arrives).  Girl clothes are just so much cuter than boy clothes.
  • Decided to take this Friday off and go on a “date” with my husband.
